Okay new series here! I’ll be dedicating a number of future posts to finding Paris and French inspired places and activities, mostly in Chicago (cause that’s where I live) but anywhere I may be traveling – London, New York, Pittsburgh, etc. You ready?

Today’s Anywhere Paris Focus – Maison Marcel. Maison Marcel is a French bakery, restaurant, and coffee shop located in the Lakeview Neighborhood of Chicago (they also have an express window in Lincoln Park). Not only is the décor dreamy, and the pastries delicious, but the Owner/Boulanger is from France. So a pretty authentic French Cuisine experience.

I started this series with Maison Marcel because it is a usual hang out of mine and it’s one of my favorite places to go in the city when I need some of that “slow down and take it all in” atmosphere.

My recommendation: Go there in the mid-afternoon to snag a great seat and enjoy a pastry with a nice café au lait. Their macarons are also amazing! This place is best enjoyed with the conversation of a friend, but I’ve also taken my laptop and headphones to churn out a few hours of work in this relaxed atmosphere.

Also to die for – the décor. If Anthropologie and a French flea market had a baby, this interior would be it.

I’m Shannon

I’m just a Francophile strolling the banks of the Chicago River (or where-ever my travels take me) instead of the Seine. Trying to find the Parisian life everyday and documenting it here on AN AMERICAN NOT IN PARIS.
